Accessibility at Tripiko

Travel is for everyone. We’re committed to building a platform that’s inclusive, usable, and welcoming — regardless of ability, device, or how you navigate the web.

Our Commitment

We believe that exploring Kerala — its backwaters, hill stations, temples, and local culture — should be possible for everyone. That starts with making our platform accessible.

Tripiko is working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level. These guidelines help us ensure our website and app are perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for all users, including those who rely on assistive technologies.

We’re not claiming perfection — accessibility is an ongoing process, and we’re actively improving. But it’s a priority, not an afterthought.

What We’re Doing

Here are the concrete steps we’re taking to make Tripiko accessible to as many people as possible.

Semantic HTML & ARIA

We use proper heading hierarchy, landmark roles, and ARIA labels so assistive technologies can accurately interpret our content.

Keyboard Navigation

All interactive elements — buttons, links, forms, menus — are fully navigable using only a keyboard. Tab order follows a logical sequence.

Screen Reader Support

We test with popular screen readers including VoiceOver and NVDA to ensure our content is announced correctly and navigation is intuitive.

Color Contrast

Text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios. We avoid relying on color alone to convey information.

Responsive Design

Tripiko works across all screen sizes and devices. Content reflows cleanly, and touch targets are sized for comfortable interaction.

Alt Text for Images

All meaningful images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are properly marked so screen readers can skip them.

Focus Management

Visible focus indicators appear on all interactive elements. Focus is managed carefully during page transitions and modal dialogs.

Reduced Motion

We respect the prefers-reduced-motion setting. Users who are sensitive to motion can browse without unnecessary animations.

Accessible Travel in Kerala

Beyond our digital platform, we care about making Kerala travel itself more accessible. Kerala’s diverse landscape — from beaches to hill stations — presents unique challenges and opportunities for travelers with different needs.

We’re working with experience providers and curators to surface accessibility information so you can plan with confidence.

Accessibility Details on Listings

We’re encouraging providers to include accessibility information — wheelchair access, step-free entry, accessible washrooms — directly on their listings.

Curator-Verified Accessibility

Local curators can verify and add accessibility notes to places and experiences, providing on-the-ground accuracy you won’t find elsewhere.

Community Reviews with Context

Travelers can share accessibility details in their reviews, helping others plan based on real-world experiences rather than guesswork.

Known Limitations

We want to be transparent about where we stand. While we’re making steady progress, there are areas we’re still actively improving:

  • Interactive Map

Our destination maps rely on third-party mapping technology. Full keyboard and screen reader accessibility for map interactions is a work in progress.

  • User-Generated Content

Reviews, trip boards, and community posts created by users may not always include alt text for images or follow accessible formatting. We’re adding guidance and tooling to help.

  • Older PDF Documents

Some downloadable resources and guides may not yet be fully tagged for screen reader compatibility. We’re converting these on a rolling basis.

  • Third-Party Integrations

Certain embedded content from payment processors or social media platforms may have accessibility gaps outside our direct control. We select partners who share our commitment to accessibility.

We review and address accessibility issues on a quarterly basis. Our goal is to resolve all known barriers by the end of 2026, with ongoing improvements as standards and our platform evolve.

Help Us Improve

Accessibility is a journey, and your feedback makes a real difference. If you encounter a barrier, have a suggestion, or need content in an alternative format, we want to hear from you.

Report an Accessibility Issue

When reaching out, it helps if you can include:

  • A description of the issue you encountered
  • The page or feature where it occurred
  • The device, browser, or assistive technology you were using
  • Any screenshots or recordings, if possible

We aim to respond to all accessibility feedback within 5 business days.
